Alternative Story Counselling
Welcome
Do you feel overwhelmed, stressed out or unable to cope with the problems affecting your day-to-day life? Do you want things to be different? Are you looking for new meaning in your life, in your relationships?
Professional counselling can assist you in taking back control of your life and make your desired changes.
I believe that counselling and counselling supervision are about creating a collaborative relationship. Once trust is established, I can help you develop insight and skills to work through the problems you are experiencing, find new meanings in your life and improve your relationships. We will focus on your strengths and your personal preferences, to help you discover more about yourself, your skills, hopes and dreams and then decide on which new directions you wish to take.
I will ensure that the counselling and/or supervision I provide is confidential, non-judgmental, and respectful.
My intention is to work collaboratively with you in order to make a rewarding difference in your life!
My professional experience has been working with people from diverse backgrounds, cultures, ages and sexual orientations. I have worked as a Telephone Counsellor with Lifeline; and as a High School Counsellor in a multicultural secondary school. I am currently a counsellor in the mental health sector practicing counselling with families/whānau/carers of people suffering from mental illness, in addition to my private practice.
I have extensive life experience: moving to a new country; raising a family; loss; grief and moving on; being a mature student; and managing life transitions and new challenges successfully.
I belong to the NZ Association of Counsellors and abide by its Code of Ethics. I have regular professional supervision and attend ongoing personal and professional development activities.
I also trained to be a Supervisor and as such, encourage my supervisees to share any aspect of their practice that needs to be addressed. I believe that a supervision relationship should be similar to that of a client and counsellor, namely that both work together.
